Regretful Searches

In the stillness of night, my heart took flight,

a twinge in my side brought worry alive,

as I tapped on my phone, the blue glow a blight,

spiraling down rabbit holes, dread to contrive.

I read about pains, my fears unfurled,

what if this means something? Each click more dire,

as if knowledge could save me from this cruel world,

and my trembling hands fueled the inner fire.

The clock ticked on, thoughts in relentless churn,

how easy to drown in a sea of despair,

while the comfort of silence I desperately yearn,

a warning against searching when fear’s in the air.
