Unsaid Lines

I penned it down, the way it felt to breathe,

words creeping like shadows, refusing to leave.

A friend once asked why my lips stay sealed,

like I’m hiding a truth, the light concealed.

I rehearsed in silence, imagined the sound,

only to crumble when the moment came 'round.

It’s easier, isn’t it, to keep things inside,

where they twist and turn, where they quietly hide.
