Broken Promises

I lifted the box, instructions unclear,
pieces scattered, like dreams interfered.
Nuts and bolts clashed in the afternoon sun,
my ambition, a structure, now coming undone.
With each twist of the wrench, my hope disappeared,
a jagged reminder of all I had steered.
The chair lies broken, splintered beneath,
my effort now echoes, regret's bitter sheath.
