A slip of the paper a moment so small

A slip of the paper, a moment so small,

a sting that reminds me of life's cruel brawl.

I reached for a stack, then suddenly, pain—

a slice that disrupts the mundane, just plain.

A crimson drop blossoms, bright against white,

like reminders of wounds that creep into sight.

The kitchen feels quiet, a sharp gasp in air,

for life leaves its marks; it’s never quite fair.
