Shattered Dreams

At the edge of the shore, I sculpted my pride,

a castle of sand, with hope as my guide.

Then came the foot, a careless decree,

that turned my delight to loss on the sea.

The walls fell like whispers, my dreams in a swirl,

as laughter erupted, sweet salt in the whirl.

I stood there in shock, my joy left to die,

grains slipping away, like sand through the sky.
