Red Streaks

The sun clawed its way, a relentless blaze,

as laughter sparked memories, as bright as the days.

I swam in the warmth, not a thought in my head,

only the tide’s gentle pull, no hint of the dread.

Now the photo surfaces, sunburnt shoulder wrapped,

in a towel like a treasure, memories untapped.

Red streaks paint my skin, a canvas of regret,

yet every sharp ache holds joy I can't forget.
