Roadside Ruin

Staring at the flat, time slips away,

each second a jagged piece of my day.

On the road to something, I took a wrong turn,

and there it lay, like a lesson unlearned.

A sharp little reminder, hidden in plain sight,

my mood deflated, a warning, a fright.

The interview I’d sought, dreams tangled in stress,

now all I see is the tire’s empty distress.
