Nostalgia’s Bite

We gathered around, laughter filled the air,

old stories spun sweet, a warm, cozy lair.

But then like a shadow, a chill crept the room,

reminders of battles igniting the gloom.

A spark turned to embers, the joy started to wilt,

a sudden drop where fondness met guilt.

The smiles turned brittle, echoes now strain,

a nostalgia once sweet, now laced with disdain.
