Sitting silent in the car I watch the world blur

Sitting silent in the car, I watch the world blur,

a fading highway sign, peeling paint and a stir.

Hours tick like heartbeats, away from her warmth,

a map of longing, in the air, a soft storm.

The trees stand like sentinels, each mile takes a toll,

distance carved deeper, gnawing at the soul.

The radio murmurs, the past hums a tune,

and I count the seconds, like the change of the moon.

I need her presence, to settle the ache,

but the road stretches long, in a silence it makes.

How many hours until I feel whole?

A journey of love, with a clock as the goal.
