I walk through shadows night wraps the street

I walk through shadows, night wraps the street,

a sound behind me, soft paws in retreat.

A stray dog trails close, its eyes full of heat,

a heart in the dark, a warmth in the beat.

It nudges my hand, asking silently still,

for warmth that it seeks, for something to fill.

A companion of sorts, in a world so chill,

this gentle reminder of life’s hidden thrill.

It follows my path, unasked yet so true,

a bond formed in silence, unspoken, but new.

In the night, we walk on, a duo, just two,

seeking connection, where loneliness grew.
