Shoreline Desires

I stand on the brink, the shoreline so wide,

the ocean beckons, but fear holds my tide.

the waves crash and roll, a wild, fierce ride,

but here I remain, in comfort I bide.

The salt in the air, it tugs at my heart,

a longing to dive, to escape, to depart.

Yet here, on this edge, I’m forced to restart,

where the ocean is vast, but I play a small part.

With toes in the sand, I watch all unfold,

a story of freedom in waters so bold.

Yet, I am just a watcher, with dreams uncontrolled,

in the dance of the waves, I feel a bit cold.
