Fragments of Memory

I pulled the drawer wide, dust taking flight,

as old ghosts came forth, in the dim kitchen light.

A kaleidoscope nestled with forks and old cords,

a secret of color, hidden from words.

Wrapped in memories, the colors would bend,

drawing me back, to moments I’d spend,

where laughter and chaos wove through the years,

a portal to joy, tangled in fears.

A lens to the past, now faded and worn,

refracting the times when our family was born.

But what do I keep, and what will I toss,

as memories mingle with love, pain, and loss?
