Time Stalled in the Quiet

The hands stopped at 3:15—

a breath held too long,

a pause in the tick-tock that measured my nights.

Cracked glass caught dust

settling like the weight of too many hours,

weight heavy as the dark.

I stared, waiting for the second hand to move,

but the silence held the time hostage,

till morning slipped in without a sound.
