The Weight of Fabric

This jacket, a relic, with pockets so deep,

a zipper that catches, secrets I keep.

Frayed at the edges, like memories past,

it holds every winter, and summers so fast.

I tug at the zipper, it groans and it strains,

a mirror reflecting my joys and my pains.

Fabric of comfort, though worn with my years,

it shields me from echoes and dull, distant fears.
