I watched her sip coffee eyes brimming with light

I watched her sip coffee, eyes brimming with light,

seeing the past in her smile, the warmth of a fight.

Each laugh shared a secret, unwrapped through the years,

an old version of me, peeling back all the fears.

How heavy the burden of what I won't say,

a search for forgiveness in shades of gray.

A coffee cup resting, its rim stained from sips,

cradled by hands, trembling like whispered slips.
