Thrive and Dive

My plant, once bright, now droops,

yellowing leaves curl in defeat,

it’s a metaphor I can't escape,

a casualty of neglect, a life,

tucked away on the sill,

waiting for someone to notice.

It should be thriving, bursting forth,

yet here it is, a ghost of potential,

a lesson in care, lost in the rush,

in the busy hours of unkempt days,

I watch it wilt, wishing I could fix

what’s broken in my own heart.
