Unruly Growth

In the kitchen, a scent twists and weaves,

a jar on the counter, a mystery leaves.

Leftovers linger, and time takes its toll,

a sign of neglect, now out of control.

Something stirs in the thick, humid air,

the thought of decay, too heavy to bear.

Curiosity mingles with dread's quiet song,

reminders of feelings that once felt so strong.
