Another headline flickers, another day lost,

as the world's aches are shown at a cost.

Scrolling past images, the same looped refrain,

a distant connection to sorrow and pain.

The television hums like a specter of dread,

with every new conflict, my spirit feels thread.

Numbness like velvet, thick in the air,

where empathy fades, leaving only despair.
